As well as all the dates listed below, our local IWA Branch holds many varied and interesting events, most of which raise funds to help us to restore our canals. WORKING WITH VOLUNTEERS WORKSHOP

The Inland Waterways Association and Canal & River Trust are holding a joint workshop on working with young people and successfully implementing safeguarding policies on Friday 15th February 2019. The aim of the day is to highlight the significant role younger volunteers will play in years to come and how to implement safeguarding procedures. This workshop will give attendees the opportunity to explore case studies, assess the need for younger volunteers and discuss their own experiences of working with younger volunteers. Case studies will include the Desmond Family Canoe Trail and Waterway Recovery Group's Family Volunteering Weekends.

IWA Shrewsbury branch Annual Quiz Night

Once again the Shrewsbury Branch of the IWA challenge members of S&NCT to pit their wits against teams from other waterways societies. This year the quiz will be at the Narrowboat Inn Whittington. This is a fun night out and well worth attending.

Please let Dawn Aylwin know if you are entering a team so that she can warn the pub of numbers attending for supper from 6.00pm.

RESTORATION WORKSHOP 2019

The 2019 Waterway Restoration Workshop, jointly run by The Inland Waterways Association and Canal & River Trust, is on Saturday 30th March at Ormiston SWB Academy in Bilston. This year's theme is 'fundrainsing'. This training workshop is aimed at waterway restoration groups and hopes to give volunteers support and information to assist in the development of their schemes. It is also a great opportunity for those passionate about waterway restoration to share and discuss ideas.

Gnosall C-fest
Staffordshire canal towpath, Opposite the Boat Inn, Gnosall, ST20 0AD

Gnosall Village was the "Best Kept Village" in Staffordshire in 2016 & 2017 it also featured on the C4 programme "Village of the year 2017". As a closing finale to the ever popular G-fest Gnosall will be holding its first C-fest, Canal festival in 2019.
