As well as all the dates listed below, our local IWA Branch holds many varied and interesting events, most of which raise funds to help us to restore our canals. Newport Paddle Day

Plans for the day:

09:30 - Meet at Black shed, unload boats, put packed lunches, dry clothes in the car that will meet us.

10:00 - Paddle West (Downhill) for litter picking

11:00 - Paddle east from black shed, for more litter

12:30 - Meretown lock, alight from boats.

 

Option A - Walk to Forton for sunny picnic.

13:15 - Lunch

14:00 - Return

14:30 - Depart black shed

 

Option B - return, load boats, dry out in pub.

More volunteers are needed for this event for litter collecting and sitting in the sun handing out SNCT leaflets and talking to passers by.

Gnosall C-fest
Staffordshire canal towpath, Opposite the Boat Inn, Gnosall, ST20 0AD

Gnosall Village was the "Best Kept Village" in Staffordshire in 2016 & 2017 it also featured on the C4 programme "Village of the year 2017". As a closing finale to the ever popular G-fest Gnosall will be holding its first C-fest, Canal festival in 2019.

Attractions planned:

  • Historic Boat Displays.
  • Trade Boats.
  • Waterside Treasure Hunt.
  • 3 participating Pubs with live Music, Skittle competitions & Waterways Quiz.
  • Historic Waterways Walk & Talk.
  • Photo exhibition.
  • Local Canal Societies.
