Volunteering is fun!
This is a brilliant way to meet people, make new friends, get some fresh air and exercise and perhaps learn new skills and you don't even have to be a member to come along and help at one of our work parties. There is a map at the bottom of the page showing the locations of our work parties.
Even if you don't want to take part in our regular on-site work parties, there are lots of different ways you could help. Here are some of them.

Regular Work Parties
These take place on 3 Saturdays each month:
Newport: Every 1st Saturday of the month, 10am - 4.00pm. Workparty leader is Steve Heise. Please contact him for further information by email.
Work going on here is general site maintenance including, at the appropriate times in the year, himalayan balsam control and hedgelaying. Also when the Waterways Recovery Group visit us there are bigger tasks undertaken, which in the past have included digging out the canal bed, stonework, brickwork, drainlaying etc. Meet at the black shed (see map). The grid references for the actual workparty sites at Newport are:

Wappenshall: Every 3rd Saturday of the month, 10.00am - 4.00pm. Workparty leader is Phil Jones. Please contact him for further information by email.
Site maintenance is also the main activity here which involves grass cutting, hedge control, himalayan balsam control, general weeding. Other activities might include painting, working on our demonstration narrow boat, repairing our trailers. You never know what will need doing next !
Shrewsbury: Every last Saturday of the month, 10am - 4.00pm. Workparty leader is Andrew Dady. Please contact him for further information by email.
Work is generally site maintenance, clearing the tow path, tree felling and stump removal, bridge and brickwork renovation.
